AUSTIN, TEXAS (June 2, 2021) — Austin-based multifamily development, construction and investment firm Oden Hughes has been renamed OHT Partners LLC.
The new name pays homage to the initials of all three long-time company principals, Steve Oden, Craig Hughes and Eric Taylor — the “T” in OHT who has led the firm’s construction division since 2011.
A new logo and website accompany the name change, however, no changes in the company’s leadership, hierarchy or operations are occurring.
Over the last decade, OHT Partners has evolved from a boutique, luxury multifamily developer with an in-house construction team to a leading Texas multifamily developer that also consistently ranks as one of the largest multifamily builders in the nation, according to the National Multifamily Housing Council.
“Under Eric Taylor’s leadership, our construction division has played an integral role in the success and growth of our company,” Oden said. “What began as a way to build better projects for ourselves has grown into a substantial business in its own right alongside our development business.”
OHT has completed or started work on more than 27,000 apartments in the Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio areas in the last 10 years.
“The new name simply better represents the business we have today — and positions us better for the future,” Hughes said. “Eric and his team have been an instrumental part of our first decade of success, and we anticipate that will continue to be the case for years to come.”
OHT’s construction division began growing substantially in 2013 when the company became one of the first vertically integrated multifamily development and construction firms to offer its specialized general contracting services to other multifamily developers.
“We already had established a successful track record with our own projects when we launched our third-party business, but we knew that we’d have to prove that we could provide the same level of service, high standards and results for other developers’ projects,” Taylor said. “We still have to prove ourselves and earn our business every day, but we’re grateful that most of our clients are now repeat customers, including some that have given us opportunities to work on five or more projects.”
